Jostedal Camping in Gjerde, Jostedal in the Vestland (Sogn og Fjordane) region
Jostedal Camping is located in an impressive setting with snowy mountain tops and beautiful nature. With camping pitches (mostly) on grass and various cabins. Both basic cabins and luxury bungalows. Well cared sanitary. Camping is located in a valley and is mainly visited by campers who want to visit the Nigardsbreen or take walks in the beautiful surroundings. Jostedal Camping has been awarded the Green Key certification mark because of its care for the environment and nature.
At Jostedal Camping
On arrival you will always be welcomed in a friendly manner by owner Astrid. She will be happy to tell you more about the possibilities in the area. In the sanitary building you will find large family bathrooms and a very nice living room with TV and a large kitchen. The terrace by the river is a popular spot in good weather. Free WIFI is available at the campsite. Within walking distance of the campsite you will find a supermarket, a gas station and a hotel / restaurant serving local dishes.
Rafting and canyoning
Jostedal Camping is located on the Jostedola, a fast flowing river which is used for rafting. One of the starting points is from the campsite. Canyoning is possible in the Breheimen National Park, also close to the campsite.
Glacier walk Nigardsbreen
The Nigardsbreen is a branch of the Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier in Europe. The Breheimsenteret is only on a 3km. distance from the campsite. From here it is a 40-minute walk to the glacier. The glacier can only be entered under the supervision of a guide. This can be booked at the reception of Jostedal Camping or at the Breheimsenteret.
Location near Gaupne and the Sognefjord
Jostedal Camping is half an hour's drive from the National Turistweg "55" at Gaupne and the beautiful Sognefjord, the "King of Fjords". The Sognefjord is with 204km. the longest fjord in Norway. The campsite is located in a very impressive setting with, among others, the Jostedalsbreen and Breheimen National Parks in the vicinity. A paradise for hikers and nature lovers.
