Borgund Hyttesenter og Camping in Borgund in the Vestland (Sogn og Fjordane) region

At approximately 25km. from the town of Laerdal and at 20km. from the Laerdal tunnel (longest car tunnel in the world with 24.5km.) lies Borgund Hyttesenter og Camping. A small cozy campsite directly along the E16 which runs from Oslo to Bergen. The campsite has around 40 camping pitches (on grass) and a number of nice cabins.

In addition to the camping pitches and the cabins, the campsite has a Gatekjokken (snack bar), a playground with a trampoline, free WIFI, bicycles can be rented and in the Borgundfjord opposite the campsite you can fish for trout. There are also excellent hiking opportunities in the impressive surroundings. In Laerdal (approx. 25km. away) you will find various shops and supermarkets.

Excellent value for money

The prices at the campsites in Norway have risen in recent years, but staying in a peak season at a campsite in Norway is still cheaper than in any other country in Western and Southern Europe. And that certainly also applies to Borgund Hyttesenter og Camping. For an overnight stay with caravan or camper you only pay NOK 235 (price 2021) including electricity and regardless of the number of people (in 1 place).

Borgund Stavkyrkje & Kongevegen

Borgund Hyttesenter og Camping is approximately 2.5km. away from the beautiful Borgund Stavkyrkje. This very well preserved stave church is build around 1180 and well worth a visit. A visitor center has been set up in the church. In the area between Borgund and Laerdal are also the Kongevegen, officially called the Filefjell Kongevegen. This old path used to be THE main route from East to West Norway, but now its a very popular hiking trail.

If you are traveling from Oslo to Bergen via the E16 or via the "7" and "52" (via Gol) and are looking for a cheap place to stay, then Borgund Hyttesenter og Camping - near Laerdal - is the place to be. The campsite is approximately 3.5 hours from Oslo and almost 3.5 hours from Bergen. So pretty central.
