Rjukan Hytte og Caravanpark in Miland near Rjukan in the Telemark region
Rjukan Hytte og Caravanpark is situated in a beautiful natural environment near the town of Rjukan. The campsite has various types of accommodation, including a number of traditional cabins (with grass on the roof). The cabins are rented out throughout the year, so Rjukan Hytte og Caravanpark is also a nice place if you want to go on holiday in the winter. The camping pitches are situated on grass and from the campsite you have a great view of the 1.883 meter high Gaustatoppen mountain, one of the most beautiful mountains in Norway. The campsite is spacious.
At Rjukan Hytte og Caravanpark
The campsite has a reception and camping shop (with fresh bread rolls in the morning) and there is free WIFI. At Rjukan Hytte og Caravanpark you will find 2 sanitary buildings. The old one is situated in a beautiful traditional building, the new bathroom dates from 2017. The children will have a great time at the playground. The immediate vicinity of the campsite is a paradise for hikers, but cycling is also possible. The owners of Rjukan Hytte og Caravanpark are from the Netherlands and speak Norwegian, German, English and Dutch.
Rjukan and Hardangervidda
Rjukan Hytte og Caravanpark is about 8km. distance from the center of Rjukan. This town with several shops and a supermarket was once established for the workers of a hydroelectric power station which nowadays serves as a museum. In the middle of Rjukan you will find "Sun Square", a square which get sunlight in the winter through large mirrors which are standing on a mountain (450 meters high). Just outside of Rjukan you will find the Hardangervidda, the largest high plateau in Europe and very popular with hikers.
Gaustatoppen
The Gaustatoppen mountain - with a height of 1.883 meters - is, according to the experts, one of the most beautiful mountains in Norway. The top of the mountain can be reached on foot, but you can also go up IN the mountain via a cog railway. Much easier. From the top of Gaustatoppen you have an unforgettable view. In clear weather you can see a 1/6 part of Norway. Unbelievable.
