Gjeilo Camping in Skjak near Lom in the Innlandet (Oppland) region
Are you looking for a campsite near Lom? Then Gjeilo Camping is an absolute must. Located in the beautiful Ottadal on a river. With a great view! And only 7km. from the center of Lom. Far away from the crowds. Ideal for a longer stay. Also because the Ottadal is known for its dry summers.
Personal attention
Since 1955, the Gjeilo Family runs their well-kept campsite. Passed from father to son. Both pursue the same: the guests are number 1. Price for an overnight stay is considerably lower than in Lom, but the owners feel good about that. Are you having coffee in front of the tent in the evening? Do not be surprised if Tanja Gjeilo arrives with just baked cake. Just because they like it.
At Gjeilo Camping
When you arrive at Gjeilo Camping you will be either welcomed at the reception or "you can just do it yourself". About 60 camping pitches are waiting for you at the campsite. On the grass, between the trees or directly on the beach. You\\'ll probably find a nice spot! Tip: take a walk around the campsite, because the most beautiful places are sometimes hidden. In the meantime your children can enjoy in the small playground.
Swimming, canoeing and beach
On Gjeilo Camping you will find some nice beaches, gradually descending into the river. Ideal for (small) children. Swimming during the day, playing in the sand or canoeing (canoes and kayaks can be rented at the campsite), in the evening making a campfire on the beach. And you know ... when the weather is nice, you can even sleep on the beach! If you wake up in the morning you can get fresh bread at the reception.
Location between Lom and Stryn / Geiranger
Due to its central location near Lom on the route to Stryn, Geiranger and Alesund, Gjeilo Camping is very suitable for day trips. For example to the beautiful Geirangerfjord, the enormous Sognefjord, the Jotunheimen National Park or even to the Trollstigen with its dozens of hairpin bends. Mountain hikes, rafting, horseback riding, skiing (Stryn summer ski area), glacier tours ... what more could you want?
