Do you want to visit both Hamar, Gjovik and Lillehammer (the 3 cities of the 1994 Winter Olympics)? And are you looking for a spot right on the huge Lake Mjosa? Then Steinvik Camping is a good option. Nice and quiet right on the water. And yet close to the E6. Also a good location if you are driving from Oslo to Trondheim.
At Steinvik Camping
This nice campsite within walking distance of the center of Moelv has a large number of hytter (also rental in winter) and camping pitches. Some are right on the water. Available in low season if you are on time. Reservations are recommended in high season. Not directly on the water? Then there is always a place to be found. In 2021 a beautiful new playground was realized.
Mjosameer
Because of its location right on the Mjosa lake, there are plenty of water sports opportunities. There are canoes for rent. Surfing or sailing is also possible. There is a sunbathing area. And a large platform in the water. You can dive directly into the Lake Mjosa. Don’t freak out when the Skibladner (Norway's oldest paddle steamer) passes by, because it makes a lot of noise! Would you prefer more privacy? From the campsite you can reach a beautiful sandy beach via a short forest walk. Pure nature !
Location between Hamar and Lillehammer
Steinvik Camping is located along the E6 at the town of Moelv about 2 hours from Oslo. Ideal if you have arrived by ferry in Oslo and are on the way to the north. But also a perfect place to park the caravan and visit Hamar (30 km). Of course to have a look at the Vikingskipet (covered skating arena) or - in bad weather - to dive into a large shopping center. In Lillehammer (32km.) The ski jump is an attraction to see. But of course the Maihaugen Open Air Museum, Lilleputthammer with various attractions for small children and the Hunderfossen Familypark just north of Lillehammer are recommended!
