Due to its location on the Transfarelva River and the Altafjord, there are good fishing opportunities at Solvang Camping Alta. The campsite is located just north of Alta. Along the E6. Ideal for campers in transit to the North Cape. Various accommodations are rented at the campsite. The camping pitches are partly on grass, partly on gravel. Since the campsite is open all year round, you can enjoy the sun that refuses to set in the summer and the Northern Lights in the winter.
At Solvang Camping Alta
Solvang Camping Alta is a child-friendly campsite. The campsite is located in a quiet area in a pine forest. There is a playground, a nice campfire area and you can take a walk to the beach. The campsite is spacious and has a cozy living room with TV, a sauna, a reception, kiosk and free WIFI.
Accommodations Solvang Camping Alta
Solvang Camping Alta has various accommodations. There are 4 cabins for rent with kitchen and bathroom and 4 cabins without running water. Of course you can use the center building of the campsite. There is also 1 apartment for rent and 8 rooms available. And the campsite has 2 large cabins for a total of 21 people. Ideal if you are traveling to the North Cape with a large group.
Alta and Northern Lights Cathedral
Alta – the largest city in the Finnmark region with approximately 20.000 inhabitants – is also called “the city of the Northern Lights”. Alta has a nice center, but also a special church: the Northern Lights Cathedral. This modern church, known for its special "spiral" shape, is built partly of wood and partly of concrete and is covered with titanium plates.
Last stop before the North Cape
Many campers choose Solvang Camping Alta as their last stop before continuing to the North Cape. Because it is just over a 3-hour drive from the campsite. At Solvang Camping Alta you see many campers who wait until the weather on the island of Magerøya (where the North Cape is located) is good enough and then drive the last stretch.
