Oen Turistsenter in Geilo in the Buskerud region
Geilo is one of the largest winter sports areas in Norway, so there are a large number of shops, restaurants and facilities in this small town. Oen Turistsenter is within walking distance of the center, so a great place to spend the night to visit Geilo. Oen Turistsenter Geilo has gravel pitches for caravans and campers and beautiful grassy places for tents along the river. The campsite has various accommodations, including apartments and cabins. From 2024, Oen Turistsenter Geilo is member of PlusCamp, a Norwegian camping group with local owners.
At Oen Turistsenter Geilo
Oen Turistsenter Geilo is located directly along the river Bardola where you can fish for free. The campsite has a sauna and a fitness room. There is a nice playground, there is a mini golf course, free WIFI and the sanitar has recently been renewed. In the high season the restaurant is fully in use, in the low season only snacks are available and breakfast can be ordered.
Winter sports
With no fewer than 40 ski slopes and 20 lifts, Geilo is one of the largest winter sports areas in Norway. If you want to go cross-country skiing, you can do so directly from the campsite. If you prefer to go skiing then you can use the ski bus that leaves from the campsite. It is therefore ideal that Oen Turistsenter Geilo is open all year round and has various accommodations and gravel pitches.
Hardangervidda
The nature around Geilo is overwhelming and the vicinity of Oen Turistsenter is an ideal walking area. The superlative of both characteristics is of course the Hardangervidda. With 8.000km2 the largest high plateau in Europe and 1 of the most popular hiking areas in Norway. Also suitable for families with children. Beautiful flora and fauna. With no fewer than 21 different animal species - including Norway\\\\\\\\\'s largest reindeer population - around 500 plant species and around 100 bird species this is THE place for nature lovers.
Central location north / south and east / west Norway
Geilo is very centrally located in Norway and so a large part of the campers passes Geilo. For example if they are en route from the south to the fjords or to the beautiful city of Bergen. The route (the “7”) over the Hardangervidda is very popular. But from Geilo you can also take the “50” (via Hol) in the direction of Aurland and then the E16 to visit Flam, the Naeroyfjord and the beautiful Aurlandsvegen. Or via the 24.5km. long Laerdal tunnel towards Laerdal and then cross the Sognefjord towards Sogndal.
